I've been enjoying your blog for the last couple months—thank you for keeping it up! The family and I are thinking about heading up there this weekend just to kick around. Can you give us some other recommendations?

Hi, Liana! My friend Tory's (mentioned in this entry) favorite place in Nashvegas might be Pied Piper Eatery (1601 Riverside Drive), and we've had a couple of very good meals there. Sadly, the fabulous Radio Cafe she once took me to has closed.

Marie really likes Noshville (1918 Broadway, across the street from The Great Escape, where you can do some music and comic shopping) and frequently brings home some salami when we remember to take a cooler.

I really like the Jack's Barbecue downtown (416 Broadway), and had a lovely picnic once in Centennial Park with takeaway from Hog Heaven (115 27th Avenue North). There's a very nice Indian place called Sitar (116 21st Avenue North) where I once had the spiciest meal I've ever tackled. Since starting this blog, I've been looking forward to eating at Sitar again just to give myself a reason to write that story up.

My absolute favorite place in the city, though, is Rotier's (2413 Elliston Place), which is like a low-lit, dim club from the 1950s with giant curved booths for large parties like you never see anymore, and they do really good burgers on French bread.

I used to visit Nashville 4-5 times a year to hang out with friends. Unfortunately we were mostly broke and I don't think we got out to the great places we should have been seeing. We did have a few more trips to Jack in the Box and White Castle than they warranted, using the "cheap and can't get 'em at home" excuse.

Thanks for reading, and have a great trip!
