Good explanation and great post. I know you must have a ton of places to hit up in St. Simons. I am curious about Southern Soul BBQ since they got received some acolades by being on the Food Network. I look forward to what you have to say about that place in particular. Have a great trip.

I am optimistic that I'll be able to report on Southern Soul, and explain the unbelievable delay in doing so, at some point before Labor Day. Stay tuned!

I'm a local to SSI and love Southern Soul! Try the Barbecuban and fried green beans. Other yummies: smoked bologna sandwich and the pimento cheese waffle topped with pulled pork. Another place for BBQ is Beachcombers. It's supposed to be one of Alton Brown's favorite que joints. When you are tired of BBQ, try Gnat's Landing. The owner, Boz, does a good job and it has a nice, kickback vibe. BTW, love the blog!

Good heavens, Peachpod! Sounds like I'll need to have three or four meals at Southern Soul. Beachcombers is also on the to-do list, but I don't know when I'll get to it.

Actually, what I'll probably have to do on our August trip is excuse myself and just vanish all day, gorging myself at about nine different places that my hint-avoiding wife hasn't figured out that I either want to try or revisit.
